Catherine strongly believes in and supports the development of excellent workplaces. Her workplace philosophy can be summed up by saying, “we all spend a lot of time at work over the course of our lives. This can be a lot of unhappy, stressful time unless we make a priority of doing our part in creating workplaces that work for the people in them.”
Catherine is an experienced Labour Relations & Human Resources Team Lead, with a successful history of working in the public sector and utilities industry. She brings to the table over 30 years’ experience working in and for Saskatchewan government agencies and has spent many years working, living and commuting to and from Saskatchewan’s northern communities. She is most at home in culturally diverse situations. Catherine is skilled in negotiating challenging interpersonal situations, leading workplace and regulatory investigations, facilitating conflict resolution, workplace restoration and providing senior level labour relations consultative support to all levels of the organization. She is strongly committed to the development and maintenance of a collaborative labour and employee relations environment.
In recent years, Catherine has shifted the focus of her career to the provision of services as a “neutral”, primarily in the areas of Mediation and Investigation, such as third-party Workplace and Regulatory Investigations. She recently served as the Executive Director of Alternative Dispute Resolution Saskatchewan. Catherine has a private practice in the areas of Labour Relations and Human Resource Consulting, Mediation and Investigation, which includes provision of Compliance Officer services to Prairie Diagnostic Services and contracted workplace mediation services for the Provincial Department of Labour Relations and Workplace Services.
Catherine approaches all situations from a trauma informed perspective and is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment.
